Masterlist Draw — User Guide
This extension draws the riders of a masterlist and gives each rider's horses consecutive head numbers, starting from a number you choose (1 for young horses, 200 for the CSI2*, and so on).
It applies FEI Jumping Rules, art. 276.2.3: athletes are drawn, and their horses carry successive numbers — first athlete 1, 2, 3; second athlete 4, 5…
For shows over several weeks, horses already numbered in an earlier week keep their head number; only newcomers are numbered — unless you ask for a full renumbering.
Why consecutive numbers matter
Riders declare their starters the day before, and the starting order of each class rotates on the head numbers. When a rider's horses carry consecutive numbers, the rider always sits in the same slice of the rotation, whichever horse he declares. With scattered numbers (45, 69, 10), the same rider could start early every day — or even choose his slot by choosing his horse.
The extension prepares the numbers. The rotation of each class (art. 276.2.1 to 276.2.3) and the Grand Prix draw (art. 276.3, in front of the President of the Ground Jury) are still done in Equipe.
1. Choose the masterlist
Open the extension from the show in Equipe (it opens in a window; close it with Close).
Pick the masterlist in the list. Each line shows its week, name, date, number of classes and number of horses, e.g.:
W1 · CSI1-Masterlist (23/11) — 12 classes · 96 horses
Masterlists are listed first, sorted by date and grouped by week. If yours does not appear, tick Show all classes.
For week 2 and later, the screen tells you which earlier masterlist belongs to the same series, e.g. same series as CSI1-Masterlist (23/11).
2. Choose the numbering mode
| Mode | What it does |
| Number new horses only (default from week 2) | Horses already seen keep their number; newcomers take the first free numbers, each rider's horses still consecutive |
| Renumber everything | Full draw, consecutive blocks from the start number. A red banner shows how many horses from earlier weeks would change number |
In both modes, a number already used by another horse of the show is skipped: the same head number is never given twice.
3. Set the start number
Series starts at is proposed automatically (the series already in place). Change it if needed: 1, 200…
4. Draw
Click Draw. Choose how each rider's own horses are ordered: as in the masterlist, alphabetically, or drawn as well.
5. Check the result
| Colour | Meaning |
| Blue | New number |
| Grey | Number kept, from this series |
| Orange | Number kept, but coming from another masterlist (another series) |
- Riders whose horses all keep their numbers are shown apart.
- Drag a rider or use ▲▼ to move them: all numbers are recalculated immediately.
- Click a number to switch that horse between keep and renumber in the series.
- Orange groups have a Renumber these N button to bring them into the series.
- Horses that already competed in the show without being in any earlier masterlist keep their number and are shown on a separate line, with a button to renumber them anyway.
Nothing is decided for you: a horse coming from another series may legitimately keep that series' number.
6. Review and confirm
Before anything is written, a window lists every change (old number → new number), the totals and the warnings (horses from earlier weeks changing number, possible duplicates).
Nothing is written until you confirm.
7. What is written in Equipe
- The head number of each horse whose number changes.
- In the masterlist: the horse numbers and the order.
The whole operation appears in Equipe as one activity, which can be undone from there.
8. Undo
The Undo button restores the numbers and the order as they were before. The last ten applications are kept per masterlist and can be undone one after the other.
Good to know
- A head number is valid for the whole show: changing it affects every week and every class. That is why Number new horses only is the default and why confirmation is required.
- Horses entered after the draw are added automatically when you apply: in their rider's block if the rider was drawn, otherwise at the end. The screen tells you.
- A newly imported horse first receives an automatic number from Equipe, usually far from the series: the extension recognises it as new and gives it a number in the series.
FAQ
My masterlist is not in the list. Tick Show all classes and select it there.
A horse from week 1 gets a new number. You are in Renumber everything mode, or you clicked its number. Switch back to Number new horses only, or click the number again to keep it.
Some numbers are orange. These horses carry a number from another series (another masterlist). Keep them, or click Renumber these N to bring them into the current series.
A number is skipped in the series. It is already used by another horse of the show; it is skipped to avoid duplicates.
I applied by mistake. Click Undo, or undo the activity in Equipe.
