# Splitted Class Management — User Guide

When a class is too big, it is split into two competitions — **Group 1** and **Group 2** — that run in parallel and are ranked separately. The riders qualified for the next round must then come from **both** groups, fairly.

This extension merges the results of the two groups into **one ranked list** and writes it into an Equipe list.

---

## How the merge works

The two groups are **interleaved**:

> 1st of Group 1, 1st of Group 2, 2nd of Group 1, 2nd of Group 2, and so on.

This keeps each rider's **rank within their own group**, instead of comparing times or faults between two different competitions.

Are left out:

- riders **without a result** yet (not started, or results not published);
- a horse that **already appears higher** in the merged list (e.g. the same horse in both groups): only the first line is kept.

The position in the merged list becomes the **starting order** in the destination list.

---

## Before you start

- The **results of both groups** are entered and published in Equipe.
- Create in Equipe the **destination list** that will receive the merged riders.

> Use a list **dedicated to this purpose**: its content is replaced at each import.
> Official FEI classes are never offered as destination, so they cannot be overwritten by mistake.

---

## 1. Open the extension

Open it from the show in Equipe. Three drop-down lists and two buttons appear.

## 2. Choose the classes

| Field | What to choose |
|---|---|
| **Splitted Class Group 1** | The first half of the split class |
| **Splitted Class Group 2** | The second half |
| **Grouped List** | The destination list for the merged riders |

## 3. Generate the list

Click **Generate Qualified riders list**. The merged list is displayed:

`#` · `Horse #` · `Rider Name` · `Horse` · `Nation` · `Result Preview` · `From`

The **From** badge shows whether the rider comes from Group 1 or Group 2.

Check the order and the number of riders. **Nothing has been written to Equipe yet.**

## 4. Import into Equipe

Click **Import Qualified riders to Equipe**. While the spinner turns, the extension:

1. **empties** the destination list;
2. adds every rider of the merged list, with their horse number, their starting order and their result.

When the spinner stops, **open the list in Equipe to check it**: no confirmation message is shown.

> ⚠️ **The import replaces the whole content of the destination list and cannot be undone.** Always check the generated list before importing.

---

## Using the list for qualifications

The merged list can then be used as a qualification class in the **Qualifications** extension: select it and tick **Qualif 1 is a grouped list** (or Qualif 2).

---

## Limits

- **Two groups only**: a class split into three or more groups cannot be merged.
- **No undo**: what was in the destination list before the import is lost.

---

## FAQ

**The table is empty after Generate.**
No rider has a published result yet: publish the results of both groups in Equipe.

**There are fewer riders than expected.**
Some riders have no result yet, or the same horse was in both groups (it is kept only once).

**The Import button stays greyed out.**
Click **Generate Qualified riders list** first and wait for the table.

**My destination list is not offered.**
Only plain lists are offered: not an FEI class, not a multi-use list. Create a new list dedicated to the merge.

**The extension does not load the classes.**
Close it and open it again from the show in Equipe. If the problem persists, contact the administrator with the show number.
